Welcome to Season 3 of the Literary License Podcast.  We have a lot of interesting things to share with you.

 

Season 3 is dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe, the godfather of Gothic horror.  It is the 210th anniversary of his birth or the 170th anniversary of his death depending on how you want to look at it.  Dying at the young age of 40, Edgar Allan Poe gave birth to the horror short story and his legacy lives on through film, books, poetry and stage.  His writing would urge genre writers today to pick up a pen and sally forth; authors such as Stephen King, Clive Barker, Richard Matheson, Flannery O’Connor and the list goes on and on.  Settle in and take in the dark morbid world Poe as we discover the stories and the films that keeps his name alive.

We will be returning with our Two For One episode each month where we look at the themes of our Book to Screen episode.  We explore two films from any genre that follows these themes and discuss in detail.  

 

We are also looking at European Horror which has its own unique placing within the confines of the horror genre.  Often consider too risqué, dark and violent for mainstream American audiences upon most of their releases, it is now being embraced as the way forward.  It promises something different and hopefully you will find something to feast your eyes and ears upon.  We hope we can turn your minds to something new.
